"Certain blessings have a lasting importance because they consecrate persons to God, or reserve objects and places for liturgical use."
—Catechism of the Catholic Church, no. 1672
Blessings of places both praise God for His works and gifts, and ask that we be made more able to use God's gifts according to the spirit of the Gospel in these places. Some of the common places that are blessed include homes, schools, churches, workplaces, meeting spaces, land, and athletic fields.
